A multilevel approach

HRA

The HRA (Health Risk Appraisal) screens employees who participate on a voluntary base in an assessment of their lifestyle and risk behaviors providing the participants with a confidential and unique ‘risk profile’, allowing them to review such profile with an expert. On the organizational side the HRA provides a wealth of aggregated data allowing the organization to make appropriate choices in the area of focused action to address health needs of parts of its employee population or to conduct health promotion campaigns helping the organization to foster a culture of health. This in the long run will not only provide valuable insights in line with CSR but it also has tangible positive effects on the economic bottom line.

Behavioral Change program

Based on individual risk profiles (step 1), employees are invited to a review (step 2) which leads to the suggestion and offer to participate in a phone-based or face to face coaching program to improve their lifestyle habits. This guided process of behavioral change will bring clear benefits to the individual but also to his work environment. The behavioral change aims at empowering the individual in making long-term healthy changes by building self-efficacy and necessary skills for the behaviors in question.

Awareness Campaigns

In line with the HRA findings, the design and set up of awareness campaigns on life style behaviors, health issue, and ways to improve, are put into motion.

Policy Development

Underlying the first 3 steps, a fourth and crucial step is to be considered: embedding the concept of proactive health management - taking care of the health and well-being of the workforce - into Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This strategic step will assure integration of a long-term vision of the importance of employee’s health as a corner stone of corporate governance.
